Joan Hyman, a NYS certified reading teacher, has been trained at Columbia University Teacher's College Reading & Writing Project and has attended numerous workshops with other recognized experts in current research-based educational theories in reading and writing. She has been a reading specialist in the public schools since 1992, and  has worked extensively with students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. She has particular skill in assessing students’ strengths, and building an individualized program for them that balances all elements of reading and writing.
